Top 6 Best Halloween EDM Festivals
Looking for some Halloween-themed EDM events this year?
Spooky season = Best season. It’s undeniable that October is one of the best months of the year; there’s Halloween, so many amazing festivals, and my birthday of course (totally not biased). Today we’ll be focusing on some of the biggest and best Halloween-themed EDM festivals. Let’s get right into it!
The Best Halloween EDM Festivals
1.) Escape Halloween
October 27-28, 2023 | San Bernardino, California
We’re starting off this list with one of the most well-known Halloween festivals, Escape Halloween. This festival does a fantastic job of providing attendees with an experience that is a perfect combination of fun and spooky. Escape is thrown by Insomniac, so you know right off the bat that it’s going to have amazing production and organization. It takes place at the NOS Event Center, which is a super popular venue for most music festivals in Southern California.
The theming and decorations at Escape are absolutely insane. You feel like you are transported into a whole new world of ghosts, ghouls, and… lasers! There are four main stages that fit the vibe perfectly and tons of fun things to explore all around the venue. In regard to the music, you can always expect some of the hottest names in EDM to be playing at Escape. Artists like Subtronics, Marshmello, Martin Garrix, and Tiesto were all seen on last year’s insanely stacked lineup.
With Escape being such a popular festival, there may unfortunately be some people there with negative/criminal intentions. Make sure to always be aware of your surroundings, secure your valuables, and be prepared to help the people around you if needed. Another thing to note is that it may get pretty cold at night (especially when you’re leaving the venue), so make sure to wear something warm or pack a pashmina if you’re not used to that weather!
October 26-29, 2023 | Live Oak, Florida
Hulaween is one of my personal favorite festivals! The energy of this festival is unmatched. The first time I stepped foot into the festival grounds, I truly felt the magic in the air and could not stop getting goosebumps. Hulaween is a four-day camping festival that takes place at the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. If you enjoy frolicking around in the forest, feeling like a woodland creature, and listening to amazing music, Hulaween is the music festival for you! I have also heard a few people say that Hulaween is like the Electric Forest of Florida!
There are two main things that really make Hulaween stand out to me: the art and the music. Out of all the festivals I’ve gone to, Hulaween had the most impressive and interesting art installations and decorations. There is an area in the festival called Spirit Lake where most of the art is located, and you truly feel like you’re in a different dimension as you walk around and explore. While you’re there, you need to check out the light projection on the lake. It is absolutely hypnotizing! As for the music, the lineup is always popping and there’s a good amount of variety in the genres. Some of the biggest EDM names on last year’s lineup included Fisher, Louis the Child, Clozee, Gigantic Nghtmre, and Liquid Stranger. Make sure to catch at least one of the String Cheese Incident’s sets too! Alongside the music and art, Hulaween has so many other fun activities, such as classes, workshops, and other endless shenanigans to stumble upon as you explore the festival!
3.) Freaky Deaky
October 29-30, 2022 | Baytown, Texas
This one goes out to all my Texan homies looking for some Halloween plans! Freaky Deaky music festival is your spot. I don’t believe there have been any confirmed dates for 2023 yet, but the Freaky Deaky Instagram account just became active again and they’re getting the hype going! Freaky Deaky takes place at the Houston Raceway Park in Houston, Texas. The festival is put together by Disco Donnie Presents, the same production company that brings us awesome events like Sunset Music Festival and Ubbi Dubbi.
This festival is exactly what the name implies… FREAKY! The decorations and performers really bring the theme to life and make you feel like you’re partying in a scary movie. Freaky Deaky has amazing music, and the lineup seems to get better every year. Last year we saw insane names like Illenium, John Summit, Subtronics, Steve Aoki, and more. For all my camping festival lovers, Freaky Deaky offers camping! What a perfect opportunity to go back to the campsite and tell some scary Halloween stories, am I right? The campers at Freaky Deaky also get exclusive access to activities like workshops, classes, and games!
4.) BOO! Seattle
October 28-29, 2023 | Seattle, Washington
For this festival, we’re bringing it over to the Pacific Northwest. BOO! Is considered to be the largest Halloween gathering in the PNW, and takes place at the WAMU Theater in Seattle, Washington. The WAMU Theater is a giant indoor venue, perfect for large events like festivals and great for anyone concerned about the weather or outdoor temperatures. The venue features three Halloween-themed stages, a vendor village, tons of food and drink options, and even a few rides! You can also find plenty of performers and actors roaming around, adding the perfect touch of additional spook to the festival’s vibe.
Another great thing about the festival being indoors is that you know the audio quality and production are going to be top-notch. There’s nothing like being in a giant box with a bunch of blaring robot noises echoing off each of the walls… pure bliss. The only thing better than fire production is a fire lineup, and luckily BOO! provides us with one every year. Whether you like house, bass, feel-good EDM, or anything in between, BOO! has got you covered. To give you a good idea of what BOO! has to offer, the 2022 lineup had crazy artists like Alison Wonderland, Tiesto, Rezz, Sullivan King, and more!
5.) Hocus Pocus
October 28-30, 2022 | Miami, Florida
If you like house music and will be finding yourself in Miami during Halloween weekend, I have some amazing news for you! Hocus Pocus is a three-day event that goes down at Factory Town, a very popular EDM venue in Miami, Florida. Factory Town is the same venue that will be holding the highly anticipated Afterlife festival and Elrow Miami!
What makes Hocus Pocus stand out from the rest of the festivals on this list is that it is all house music. Last year presented quite an impressive lineup, with names like Fisher, Sofi Tukker, Claptone, and Gorgon City keeping the party going all night. And when I say all night, I mean ALL night. Another insane thing about Hocus Pocus is that the event runs from 7pm to 7am! If staying up all night and dancing until the sun comes up is your kind of vibe, this festival is certainly for you! If you’re still not done when 7am rolls around, make sure to check out Club Space, an amazing nightclub in Miami that keeps the party going until 11am. Go hard or go home!
October 29, 2022 | Denver, Colorado
Supernatural is a single-day event that takes place at the National Western Complex in Denver, Colorado. The show was created by Global Dance, the same company that brings us Global Dance Festival every year! The National Western Complex is a massive arena-like venue that is about a twelve-minute drive from Downtown Denver. I personally love shows in venues like that because the sound quality is always fantastic and I feel ONE WITH THE BASS! And with the kind of music that’s played at Supernatural, you’ll definitely feel one with the bass too. Despite being a slightly smaller one-day event, Supernatural still manages to bring out heavy hitters like Subtronics, Ray Volpe, Riot Ten, and more, who were all on the lineup last year! They don’t call Denver the bass capital of the world for no reason people!
Halloween is such an amazing time for the EDM community. There are so many events to choose from, and it’s the one time out of the year when our crazy outfits actually make sense! Attending at least one of these festivals one year is something I can’t recommend enough. Hopefully this post gave you some ideas for this year!
