Looking for a list of the top music festivals in June? Look no further!

Some of the coolest festivals happen in June and we’ve put together a list of our Top 6 that we think you shouldn’t miss!

Top 6 June Music Festivals

1.) Forbidden Kingdom

June 9-10, 2023 | Orlando, Florida

First up on our June music festival list is Forbidden Kingdom. Located at the Orlando Amphitheater in the Central Florida Fairgrounds, Forbidden Kingdom, which takes place over 2 days and showcases over 100 artists between 4 stages, is one of the biggest all-bass music festivals in North America. 2023 will be Forbidden Kingdom’s 4th year and past lineups have seen some well known DJs that headbangers love such as Excision, Subtronics, Rezz and Svdden Death (Voyd).

One cool thing about this festival is The Forbidden Tale. The Forbidden Tale is an immersive story about the clash between the Cyberians and Thereons, written by Joshua Dean Perry. Each year we get a new chapter in this exciting and action packed story (You can begin at Chapter 1 here) and they have correlating videos on their Youtube! I think it’s a really unique way to add an immersive experience to the festival. Last year they even had limited edition trading card packs with info on the characters in The Forbidden Tale. 5 packs had a special Golden card that granted the lucky winner a 5 Year VIP Pass!

Pro Tip: Summers in Florida mean high heat, high humidity and at least one rain shower almost every day, so if you plan on checking out this fest make sure you are prepared! Don’t forget to pack a poncho and plenty of Raveraide

2.) PlayThink Festival

June 14-18, 2023 | Harrodsburg, Kentucky

Up next on our June music festival list we have what I like to call a hidden gem of a festival. PlayThink Movement, Music and Arts Festival is a summer adventure that takes place at Terrapin Hill Farm located in Harrodsburg, KY. Think of this as a more workshop focused festival, that also has EDM artists playing as opposed to your usual music focused festival that also has workshops. This festival is also unique because it is an all-ages, family festival with dedicated “playshops” for children!

While you won’t find big name DJ’s on the lineup at this festival, we just know you will find many “playshops” that peak your interest (Especially if you are someone who is into flow arts!) The PlayThink team prides themselves on creating a unique environment that enriches the heart and feeds the soul. With 10 different focus areas on the schedule each day, there is truly something for everyone! Some of the Playshops include yoga/ariels, hoop and fire, poi and fans, dragon staff, healing, martial arts, juggling and ecstatic dance. There are also a number of themed camps that look really fun, and unlike most other camping festivals – you are welcome to come and go as you please!

PlayThink also has an online membership program called PlayThink University. At PlayThink University you will have access to stream playshops 24/7/365! Each month they update the site with over 40 hours of new playshops to choose from and they offer a 14 day free trial. It’s truly extraordinary what they have created at PlayThink and we think it’s a fest that should definitely be added to your bucketlist!

3.) Bonnaroo

June 15-18, 2023 | Manchester, Tennessee

Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival 2023 takes place on Bonnaroo Farm in Manchester, TN. Bonnaroo is a multi-genre, all-ages festival who has seen headliners ranging from Illenium, to J. Cole, to Stevie Nicks.

One of the best things about Bonnaroo is the never ending list of things to do! While the majority of camping and arts festivals have a range of activities, what sets Bonnaroo apart is the types of activities available. While they do have your traditional festival activities like yoga, a ferris wheel and workshops; at Roo you can also be a part of one of the many parades, run in the annual 5K, or immerse yourself in the Broo’ers Festival inside the festival (20+ micro breweries to explore!)

While you’re at Roo, expect the unexpected at the Campground Plazas. Plazas are located around the campgrounds and include typical festival amenities such as bathrooms, showers, medical stations and charging stations. But they also host unique experiences like secret sets, parties and celebrity surprises! Plaza’s make camping at Roo a one-of-a-kind experience, you never know what you’ll get to see or do! Speaking of camping, Bonnaroo has many themed camping options such as FamilyCamping, SoloRoo, SoberRoo and The Beyond (for women & non-binary people)

Bonnaroo is definitely a can’t miss June music festival. Although the lineup isn’t out just yet, the experience itself is reason enough to snag your ticket and start preparing for a fun summer weekend on the farm!

4.) Sonic Bloom

June 15-18, 2023 | Hummingbird Ranch, Colorado

Sonic Bloom is a smaller June music festival, but don’t let it slip past your radar! Based on the fact that last year’s festival sold out, we just know you won’t want to miss this one!

Traditionally held over the summer solstice, Sonic Bloom hosts a variety of experimental EDM acts and is what most ravers consider a “wook fest”. Along with the music comes amazing psychedelic visuals as well as an open-air art gallery!

Sonic Bloom is yet another family friendly festival and has a dedicated children’s village & family camp. This year the children’s village will be hosted by Rainbow Lightning, A Denver Based Non-profit who is dedicated to creating a safe environment as well as inspire and empower young minds to stay substance free. Kids can enjoy a wide variety of activities and educational experiences such as Qi Gong or sewing classes, open mic’s, talent shows and permaculture workshops.

Past lineups have included EAZYBAKED, Shlump, Wrekno, Yheti, Of The Trees and the iconic Tipper. Between the spectacular views that come with camping in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the spectacular art and visuals, and the small community feel – Sonic Bloom is undoubtedly a festival you will want to experience!

5.) Beyond Wonderland at the Gorge

June 17-18, 2023 | George, Washington

This Alice in Wonderland themed June music festival has been on our bucket list for a while! Also known as Beyond PNW, this Insomniac based festival takes place at the stunning Gorge Amphitheater. Fun Fact: Beyond Wonderland is the sister festival to Nocturnal Wonderland, and is now an international festival with locations in Mexico and Columbia.

While Beyond Wonderland is only a 2 day festival, thankfully they still offer camping (because who wouldn’t want to wake up to those views?!). They have a few different camping options, from budget to glamping and everything in between. Some options even include complimentary coffee and pastries! Keeping up with the Alice in Wonderland theme, camping options are not just GA, GA+ or VIP; They have names like Cheshire Cove, Castle Crossing and Royal Shipyard.

Like most Insomniac Events, Beyond Wonderland includes art installations, interactive areas and roaming performers. There are 3 stages, all of which have been built for world class production and sound as well as visuals and lasers. Last years lineup included some huge names in EDM such as Alesso, Dombresky, Kaskade, Liquid Stranger, Porter Robinson and Zeds Dead. Are you ready to go down the rabbithole into Wonderland?

6.) Electric Forest

June 22-25, 2023 | Rothbury, Michigan

Of course we left the best June music festival for last! Electric Forest is a multi-genre music festival and this year’s lineup will feature headliners such as Odesza, Illenium, Chris Lake, Above & Beyond, Lane 8, Sofi Tukker and Zeds Dead. Along with many other big names and up and coming artists alike, The String Cheese Incident will also be playing 2 sets.

Electric Forest is one of the most anticipated festivals every year, and for good reason! Festival goers get to spend 4 days of camping while being immersed in music, art and plenty of surprises while under the lush canopies of Sherwood Forest. With 9 Stages, yoga, and a ton of workshops at The Brainery – there is always something to do! Forest also has a lot of other unique activities such as a chapel to get married at (for real or for fun), a take one/leave one style “giving tree”, fairy houses hidden around, secret scavenger hunts (be sure to chat with characters around the Hangar) and even a trading post. (bring something unique! No plastic or “Made in China” items are accepted).

Unfortunately, tickets for 2023 sold out in a matter of hours but you can always try your luck on the official wristband exchange. Once you secure tickets to your first Forest, make sure you register your wristband to sign up for the EF Loyalty Program! The loyalty program gets you special benefits such as early access to purchase wristbands, discounts, and more! Electric Forest is truly a magical place and there’s a reason it sells out so quickly every year! With approximately 40,000 attendees it is one of the larger festivals but it still manages to have that small festival / community feel. You never know what you’re going to see or find in the forest!
