The Science of Raveraide – What the ingredients do to your body on a cell/molecular level

February 22, 2022

It’s no secret that heading out to a weekend-long festival can sometimes be anxiety-inducing.
It’s also no secret that whether or not you’re indulging in illicit substances throughout the
weekend, a two-day-long rave can wreak havoc on your body.

From dry mouth to dizziness, headaches to fatigue, and some even more serious effects in
between, our bodies go through the wringer at these music festivals. This is the main reason
that we developed Raveraide – because we know what it’s like to attend music festivals and feel
like death warmed over for the next couple of days. And it’s not just your body that refuses to
move. Sometimes, your brain feels like it’s turned to mush. That’s because it kind of has. The
vitamins, minerals, and electrolytes that your body depletes while you’re vibing to the music can
actually impair your cognitive function.

We talk a big game on our website about Raveraide being scientifically backed to improve
things like hydration, immunity, and neuroprotection so that you can be at your absolute best
before, during, and after raving. But don’t just take our word for it. Let’s take a deeper dive into
the science of Raveraide so that you can see exactly what our handpicked ingredients do for
your body on a cell and molecular level.

In this article, we’re going to explain each ingredient in our hydration sticks so you know that we
know what we’re talking about, and so you can be a little less nervous about those science-y
words on the ingredient list. We’ve got you.

The Science Of Raveraide – What Are The Ingredients?

First, let’s take a look at all the vitamins packed into each Raveraide hydration stick. We all
know that vitamins are important to healthy minds and bodies, but do we know what exactly
each vitamin does and why we need it? Well, we know, and now, you will too.

Vitamin D3 – Vitamin D is also called the Sunshine Vitamin because you get it from sunshine.
But when you’re at a music festival and you spend the majority of the day sleeping off the night
before in a tent, you’re not exactly getting as much as your body needs. Our bodies need
Vitamin D3 because it boosts our immune systems, strengthens muscles and bones, reduces
inflammation that comes with dancing for long periods of time, improves heart function, and is
an anxiety reducer and mood enhancer. If your body is low on Vitamin D3, you can’t absorb
calcium, so your cells will start stripping it from your bones.

Vitamin C – Do you know what free radicals are and why they’re dangerous for our bodies?
Free radicals are molecules with our body that have an uneven number of electrons. What this
means is that free radicals, due to their uneven number of electrons, can react incredibly easily
with other molecules in our bodies. This can cause “large chain chemical reactions,” says
Healthline, that lead to oxidation and oxidative stress. Vitamin C is an antioxidant that helps
these free radicals to become less reactive by essentially donating an extra electron to them,
allowing them to stabilize.

Vitamin B6 – Vitamin B6 is one of the most important vitamins for brain development. It helps to
create neurotransmitters, which are signaling molecules that send chemical messages to your
brain. So you know after a day of partying when you’re feeling a little sluggish in the ol’ noggin,
it’s because you’ve depleted your body’s reserves of B6. This particular vitamin is also
imperative in transporting oxygen through your bloodstream.

Vitamin B5 – While all B vitamins convert the food that we eat into the fuel our body needs to
keep going, Vitamin B5 also aids in the manufacturing of red blood cells, which our body needs
to get oxygen to our tissues to help keep them healthy and, well, alive. B5 is often called the
anti-stress vitamin because of the way it helps with the manufacture of stress and sex-related
hormones secreted by the adrenal glands.

Vitamin B12 – B12 is another vitamin that helps in the production of those all-important red
blood cells. It also aids in the manufacture of our DNA. A deficiency of B12 can lead to memory
loss, cognitive dysfunction, and brain atrophy. Raveraide helps prevent these issues by ensuring
that every hydration stick contains 500mcg of Vitamin B12.

Himalayan Pink Salt – We know that Himalayan Pink Salt is one of those new, trendy
buzzwords, but there’s actually a science behind that. The rich mineral content in it can help
your body detoxify. Something that it will likely need after a long night or weekend of dancing,
and perhaps imbibing or otherwise self-medicating.

Potassium Phosphate – Potassium phosphate is, essentially, the science-y term for potassium
and phosphorus salt ions. Our body needs potassium phosphate to aid in the growth and repair
of our cells and tissues. When we lack a proper amount of phosphorus in our bodies, we can
become afflicted with hypophosphatemia, which can cause muscle and bone weakness, and in
extreme cases, a stupor followed by a coma, and then potential death. Potassium phosphate is
used to prevent and treat hypophosphatemia.

Potassium Citrate – We at Raveraide know that music festivals often go hand-in-hand with a
poor diet. You’re too busy vibing and dancing to pay attention to what food – if any – you’re
putting in your body. We also know that many people have the habit of consuming high-in-sugar
drinks to help keep their energy levels up. A poor diet and sugary food and drinks can quickly
cause your urine to become acidic. Acidic urine can cause a number of problems including
UTIs, kidney stones, kidney tubular acidosis, and even kidney failure. Potassium Citrate helps to
alkalinize the urine, to help prevent these issues from occurring.

Magnesium Chloride – Magnesium Chloride does so many things for our bodies. In fact,
according to Drs James Myhre and Dennis Sirfis at VeryWellHealth, “it’s responsible for more
than 300 processes in the body.” These processes include regulating blood pressure and blood
sugar, nerve and muscle function, as well as bone mineral, DNA, and protein production. It’s
also used by athletes and others who want to be at peak performance as an energy booster and
muscle relaxer. Raveraide knows that’s exactly what your sore muscles are going to need after
a weekend of dancing your butts off.

Magnesium Glycinate – Magnesium Glycinate has many calming properties and is easily
absorbed by the body. It can help to reduce stress, depression, anxiety, and even insomnia.
Magnesium in itself is incredibly important to the health of your skeletal muscles, brain, and

Calcium Citrate – Like regular calcium, calcium citrate is used to promote the health of your
bones. It can help prevent bone fractures and weak bones. Raveraide knows that it’s very
unlikely that you’re getting enough calcium in your diet during those weekend-long raves or
music festivals, which is why our scientists have included 25mg of it in each Raveraide
hydration stick. Science, yeah!

Clarity and Neuroprotection:

L-Theanine – L-Theanine is most often found in things like green and black teas. It’s an amino
acid that has calming effects and is used to aid in the treatment of anxiety, stress, and even
depression. These are all things that our bodies can go through when experiencing dopamine
withdrawals brought on by music festivals and raves – events where our moods are usually
incredibly high and we feel intense happiness and pleasure. Once those events are done, we
can go through dopamine withdrawals. “The anti-anxiety effect of L-Theanine is achieved
through enhanced alpha brain wave activity and increased synthesis of GABA
(gamma-Aminobutyric acid). Increased GABA, in turn, increases brain levels of dopamine and
serotonin, resulting in general feelings of calm and well-being,” says Dr. James Lake for
Psychology Today.

L-Glutamine – L-Glutamine is an α-amino acid that is a building block for our body’s production
of proteins. Glutamine itself comes in two different forms, L-Glutamine and D-Glutamine.
L-Glutamine is the form that’s most important as it helps to provide the fuel our bodies need for
our immune system and intestinal cells. Like L-Theanine, it also has a calming effect and can be
used to treat insomnia, like when you have that buzzy, wired feeling after a weekend rave,
where you’re exhausted and you just can’t get to sleep.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine – Acetyl-L-Carnitine is a form of L-Carnitine, which is another amino acid.
Carnitine plays a highly critical role in producing energy for the body out of long-chain fatty
acids. Most cells in our bodies contain Carnitine, which is produced by both the liver and the
kidneys. A Carnitine deficiency can cause muscle weakness as well as potentially serious
problems with the heart and liver.

Alpha GPC – Studies have shown that Alpha GPC supplementation can improve physical and
mental performance. According to one such study done by the Journal of the International
Society of Sports Nutrition, “Alpha-GPC administration increases the release of the
neurotransmitter acetylcholine and facilitates learning and memory. In athletes, Alpha-GPC
supplementation prevents exercise-induced reductions in choline levels, increases endurance
performance and growth hormone secretion.”

Huperzine A – Huperzine A is a dietary supplement found in Huperzia Serrata, a type of
Chinese club moss. It works by improving the brain’s levels of neurotransmitters. This can slow
the progression of cognitive decline, improve memory skills, and protect the body’s nerve cells.
Huperzine A is a cholinesterase inhibitor, which stops the enzyme acetylcholinesterase from
breaking down the neurotransmitter acetylcholine into acetate and choline.
